Unharm Sydney Hackathon

First Unharm Sydney Hackathon on August 4

You can help Unharm generate powerful new ideas to end the stigma against drugs. Sign up for the first Unharm Sydney Hackathon by telling us your big idea in fifty words or less.

Unharm’s vision is a world in which drug use is as positive, ethical and safe as it can be.

To get there, we aim to end the stigma against drugs, challenge discrimination against people who use drugs, and unwind the criminalisation of drug use.

And to do that, we campaign with allies and we support people to ‘come out’ and tell their stories to change the popular narrative about drugs and people who use them.

Every year, more than 3.1 million Australians will use drugs illicitly. That’s a lot of stories of safe and pleasurable drug use – and a constituency waiting to be mobilised.

This is an audacious goal, because stigma against drug use is pervasive in everyday life.

But this means everyone has a piece of the puzzle.

We’re seeking participants for our first Unharm Sydney Hackathon, where small teams of participants will put their heads together – and compete against each other – to pitch new and exciting ideas for achieving our vision.

YOU CAN TAKE PART.

Sign up here and tell us, in 50 words or less, how you’d go about changing the world to make drug use as positive, ethical and safe as it can be. Everyone has something to share.

You bring an open mind and your experiences -- we’ll show you how the hackathon works and make sure everyone gets an opportunity to contribute their ideas.

When:             Saturday 4th August 2018 from 10-4PM

Where:            Sydney CBD location

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

This is our first time trialling the Hackathon format with the Unharm Sydney hub. We have a couple of scholarships for Unharm members from other states to observe the format.
