It’s time for a new conversation about drugs in Australia.

Unharm is launching Story Lab, a training program for eight people based in NSW to share their stories with the public and media, to shift the story about drugs in Australia by putting human stories to the forefront.

People have used drugs for thousands of years, often in positive and beneficial ways. But mainstream media keeps telling the same old story about harm and regret. It promotes panic, punishment and ‘just say no’.

Treating drug use as a criminal matter means people who have used drugs are marginalised and silenced. Real solutions need the participation of people directly involved. By sharing your story you can help shift the conversation, elevate the voices of people directly affected by drug policy, and set the scene for policies that promote wellbeing, not fear.
